Virtual visits include look at Gift Shop special window

Lynsey Allie takes you on museum tours

Museum manager Lynsey Allie has begun a series of virtual visits to different parts of the O. Winston Link and History Museum of Western Virginia exhibits. Walk along with her.

The latest is a look at the special leaded glass window in the Gift Shop.  See it at https://youtu.be/z20XXv8D990

Also view an update on the Raymond Loewy Gallery, located in the passenger station lobby. Learn about this industrial designer who redesigned the building in 1949 when N&W (now Norfolk Southern) commissioned Loewy, known the world over for his product and logo designs, to create a look that reflected the company’s modern, progressive image.

Loewy’s designs have become cultural icons and include Air Force One, the slenderized Coca Cola bottle and fountain dispenser, the Studebaker Avanti, interiors for NASA’s Apollo and Skylab series, interiors for the Concorde, Greyhound’s Scenicruiser, the US Postal Service seal, logos for Shell, BP, Exxon, and Lucky Strike.
