POSTPONED: First Battle of Revolution talk

POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER

On Feb. 19, the Revolutionary Roundtable Series will feature “The Battle of Point Pleasant and Lord Dunmore’s War” by speaker Dave Robbins.

Highlighting the narrative of Capt. John Stewart of Greenbrier County, Va., Robbins will discuss Andrew Lewis, William Fleming and other area natives and their roles in the Battle of Point Pleasant on October 10, 1774.  This single, decisive battle of Lord Dunmore’s War has been argued as the first battle of the Revolution, and shaped how some Native Americans sided during the Revolution.

The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the Roanoke History/O. Winston Link Museum auditorium. Admission is $5 for non-HSWV members. Member admission is free.
